With the stuff that TIG is doing, it makes it so easy for kids to find something that they’re passionate about, to help other people all over the world, to make the world a better place, and as a huge unbelievably great side effect of that, they’re going to feel better about themselves.

I am inspired by Youth, by Voice, and by people who care. I am also inspired by the beauty of the world, which I think consists of nature, of art and of community. I am involved in theatre, and literature: I was recently published in a book about Indigenous identity, the environment, and co-habitation and communication between Indigenous peoples and French Canadians in Québec. As a younger person I was involved in voicing youth perspectives on politics in Canada and the environment.

Over the last several years I have been committed to several social justice projects that I have integrated into my classroom. Working with resources and ideas from Save The Children, my students branch off on their own to plan fundraisers that split proceeds between the global issue of building a school in a developing nation and a local project within their own community. I became involved with this type of classroom project after listening to Craig Kielburger address our teachers at a conference a number of years ago. I thought to myself, "I have finally found a vehicle to drive my own personal desire to effect change both at home and abroad."

I am inspired by so much things that I couldn't write them all, the major part of them are related to health, sciences, environment and music. However, what definitely inspires me the most is the world solidarity. I am planning to leave for Costa Rica on January 2011 for an anthropology/biology project and I hope it will permit me to widen my vision of what are the real issues in the world as poverty, environmental crisis and human exploitation.

I find people from the past very inspirational. They provide a link to the way things used to be before big industry took over, which is a great way to restore faith in myself. A great many famous scientists, inventors, and authors have been people who “think outside the box”—and I’m like that too. This reminds me of how even if things are difficult, I am never alone. Sometimes, when I am surrounded by modern technology and environmental depletion, I say to myself, “Wow, I think I must have been born in the wrong century!” Learning about the past gives me motivation to fulfill my dreams and reminds me that although time and space may divide us, we are really all in this together.

The main thing that inspires me is Laughter. It is the epitome of our joy as a people and is shared by all. It is the true sign that our actions have reaped positive rewards. When we hear laughter, especially of children we know that our people are happy. That should be our goal, to be happy and spread laughter, those that do that are indeed inspirational.

Bonjour du Canada! My life is an interesting one because I live every moment as if it were unscripted and beyond prediction while at the same time fully embracing my ultimate purpose in life and the many opportunities I have been given to fulfill it. Getting involved in my community has always been a strong point for me, but I never really felt like I was making a difference in my life and the lives of those around me has not.

Students are constantly being bombarded with IT in their lives. They come to school as digital natives and we are their immigrants. We need to teach and learn using these tools, as they are using them anyway. We need to guide them through this shift in education, or we will have a group of unmotivated, disengaged youth. By having them connect, collaborate, communicate and share by using such tools as TIGed collaborative classes and other tools, we can engage them as they prepare to become 21st Century citizens.

I'm inspired by leaders who do not look to push their own personal agenda, but instead empower others to share their vision as well. Leaders who create trusting community in this way inspire me.
